I left work early on Friday to make sure I was home for the big arrival.

(Our persnickety UPS driver refuses to leave packages without signatures. While I admire his desire to make sure all packages are received, it’s really inconvenient to have to make sure we’re home every time we’re expecting a delivery.)

Inconvenience pushed aside and forgotten, I can honestly say that I truly love her.

We seem to be getting along quite well considering the short amount of time we’ve known each other:

Lovely stuff to spin. I’m just about a 1/3 of the way through the 8 oz. I have. My goal/plan is to get a heavy worsted 3-ply and we’ll see what happens from there.

**********

Also causing some joy in my life is the progression of my Celtic Dreams and the fiber being spun on the other wheel. While Celtic Dreams is moving along slowly (probably even slower until the new wheel love affair dies down), I’m quite happy with how it looks:

You’ll have to trust me that there are indeed cables on there and I’m now almost 2 full repeats down the back. Black cabled sweaters apparently do not make for good blog fodder. I’ll also apologize in advance for all the future big black blob blog pics.

The other spinning is looking okay, too:

This will be 2-ply, probably something in the vicinity of DK or light worsted. I’m hoping for something bright and tweedy when I’m done with it. Let’s hope for the best, but I’m starting to think that it’s going to be a jumbled mess of neon brightness and not at all tweedy.

Why, yes. As a matter of fact I do love my new WooLee Winder that I got for Christmas! I’m happy to report that I had no learning curve with it whatsoever, and I just popped it on and started spinning. I’m going to have to restrain myself from ordering a second one for the Joy. I can always use the Traveller with the WW to ply what I spin on the Joy, that way I can continue to use the 8 or so Ashford Bobbins I’ve already got, right?

On a different note, I’m starting to get excited for SPA! I can’t believe it’s less than a month away. It seems like I made the hotel reservations AGES ago. Well, actually, I DID make them ages ago. We wanted to make sure we were at the Doubletree this year, so I made the reservations last April. =)

While I need no fiber, I’m really looking forward to 3 days in a row off, something I haven’t had since, well it’s been a long time. Add to the 3 days off the fact that it’s nothing but spinning, knitting, and socializing, and, well, you just have a perfect, long, relaxing weekend!

We (Erin and I) have the most noble intentions of keeping within a very meager budget while visiting the vendors. I fear that my resolve will crumble in the face of the colorful snare at Spunky Eclectic and Grafton Fibers.

Lord help me (and my wallet). Hopefully living vicariously through the purchases made for (sadly blogless) Jasmine will be enough to keep me satisfied. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond her control, she can’t join us and is sending her $$$ in her place.

Have a great day!

Oh WOW! A beautiful new Joy… how exciting! And you’re spinning really well on it, too. Lovely singles!

I so feel your pain re: UPS. The day I spent sitting home waiting for my Lendrum, I thought I was going to die. ;-)

Wow, that Twilight is GORGEOUS! And I can totally relate to the difficulty of photographing black blob projects for the blog.

I’m using rowanspun aran for my Celtic Dreams — I just got moving on it this past weekend. I love the progress you’ve made on yours (in spite of the new wheel!). :)
I also spun up 8oz of that same roving from CMF! Only I went for a bulkier manos-like single (a type of yarn I never even try to spin) and it looks very different. So cool! :)
