And damned if the past 24 hours hasn’t been loaded with stuff of the jolly variety.
Last night’s BBQ, Sox Game, Friends, and knitting proved to be just what the doctor ordered as part of my recovery from a nasty tooth extraction on Thursday. Topics covered? Heh - you name it. Everything from strippers to snapping turtles to beating the monkey. Really, I think you had to be there, but trust me…it was funny. Gut-splittingly funny and I had no eye makeup by the end of the night.
Also falling under the Jolly topic? Jolly Rogers. Neon Argyle Jolly Rogers to be specific:

This is my first attempt at arglye/intarsia and I have to tell you, I’m pretty pleased with myself. There were some minor issues with consistency up at the top on the black stitches, but it’s getting better as I go along. I also totally cheated on the Jolly Roger itself (it’s fair-isled instead of intarsia). Oh - and 2.5″ of ribbing was about as much as I could take. But really, my love for these socks is completely and utterly insane. They are neo-prep-punk at it’s best.
This is all Julia’s fault. Stephanie was right…she’s contagious. I’m curious to know how many others have jumped on the argyle bandwagon with her?
Now, some may think that I have a “thing” for skulls and crossbones. Totally not true. Yes, my Knitting Olympics project was the Pirate Mittens from Hello Yarn(also in this beyond Neon Dale Falk),

and I may make the matching hatif I still have enough when I’m done. But really, other than this stuff? No pirates. I’ve never even seen Pirates of the Caribbean (though that’s about to change since Jasmine is loaning it to me tonight.) But that’s strictly to feed the need for a bit of Depp.
Also feeding a need, this time Chris and Chaos’fault, are the MDK bibs. I have no need to be making baby bibs first of all. But I am inexplicably drawn to them and I can’t seem to stop making them. Two and counting this week alone and I have enough for three more.
From Pugsley to Chaos:

Dude, really, it’s not so bad…

See? I even posed twice!
Know what else? If you sit still and let them take your picture while you’re wearing the bib? They’ll give you…

CATNIP!!!!!!

sweet, sweet, catnip….

Ummmmm - bib???? What bib????? I don’t remember any bibs…
Have a great weekend everybody and stay cool!

*chortle* Those are great bib (and post-bib) pictures! I showed them to Chaos, but he simply looked smug. Hmm.
Your argyles - totally nuts! But they will look cool.

[…] Bethe’s cat Pugsley was fine with wearing bibs - maybe because of the catnip bribe?! […]
