All About Me

101 Things About Me…(in other words, more than you ever wanted to know)

1. I was born on November 8th, 197*
2. That makes me a Scorpio.
3. I am a tried and true Scorp. I’m motivated, passionate, temperamental, and fiercely loyal. I can also be vengeful, sarcastic, and suspicious once I have been betrayed.
4. I would DIE without coffee.
5. I have 2 cats.
6. I love the Red Sox.
7. I have never been married.
8. I have no children.
9. I am not sure if I want to get married, I enjoy having complete control over the tv.
10. But I do know I don’t think that I would like children someday.
11. My grandmother (Mama) taught me to knit and crochet when I was 5.
12. I knit very sporadically throughout my life until 6 years ago when I quit smoking.
13. I gained 25 pounds when I quit smoking. *
14. I am an Office Manager by day. I don’t enjoy my job anymore.
15. I am a Knitter by night.
16. I own a gift shop with my mother.
17. Technically, the gift shop brings my job count up to 3.
18. My parents divorced when I was 9.
19. My mother moved heaven and earth to make sure I was as happy as possible. No matter what that involved.
20. I went to Catholic school from grades 1-8.
21. I went to public high school, Class of 198*.
22. I scored in the 97th percentile on my High School entrance exams for private schools.
23. I went to college for 2 years before I ran out of $$$ and didn’t qualify for aid.
24. My first “real” job was at Mrs. Fields Cookies.
25. Mrs. Field’s is where I slipped and chipped my ankle when I was 20.
26. Because of that chip, I have had 2 operations on my right ankle.
27. The second surgery 5 years ago is when they finally got the chip out.
28. I gained 15 pounds after that operation.
29. I was a wild child of the 80’s.
30. I loved the Hair Bands
31. The height of my hair rivaled the Statue of Liberty’s crown at times.
32. I wore spandex – lots of it.
33. I went through 2 cans of Extra Super Hold Aqua Net hairspray every week.
34. My godchildren are 20, 19, and 16. I miss them.
35. My first real boyfriend didn’t come around till I was 18. We stayed together for 1 year.
36. 1985-1990 are nothing but a series of fuzzy, hazy, dimly recognizable images way back in my brain.
37. I didn’t move out of my mother’s house till I was 23.
38. I moved back home when I was 25 after a *very* bad breakup and an even worse miscarriage.
39. I still cry about it on two days: September 19th and Mother’s Day.
40. I moved out again when I was 28.
41. I found a new apartment when my mother moved in with me 6 years ago.
42. I didn’t graduate from college, but I make more money than lots of people that did, so that’s ok for now.
43. Someday I want to go back to school.
44. My stash is slowly taking has taken over my house. Part of it now lives in the storage room for the gift shop.
45. I am not a monogamous Knitter. I am easily enticed into starting new projects.
46. I have been in 4 car accidents.
47. None of them were my fault.
48. These 4 accidents all happened in 5 years. I was rear-ended every time.
49. I have 2 deteriorating discs in my back because of the very first accident.
50. I was arrested once when I was 17.
51. I didn’t get my license until I was 18.
52. I got my first car when I was 20.
53. I am looking for my first house.
54. I want to own my own business. Soon. DONE
55. I hate the Massachusetts Turnpike with the fire of 10,000 suns. This is why I avoid it at all costs, even though it means my morning commute is longer now.
56. I am 5’11”
57. I wear size 11 shoes
58. My hair is naturally curly and I have a LOT of gray hair. I started going gray at 16.
59. My hair has been every color of the rainbow and some that don’t occur in nature, too.
60. I love to read write and knew how to do both before I started Kindergarten.
61. I have seasonal allergies that last from May through October.
62. I was transferred to Texas for my job when I was 23.
63. I quit that job and drove home to Massachusetts 5 days later.
64. I intensely dislike the state of Texas.
65. I love Boston.
66. I love New York, too.
67. But I hate the Yankees.
68. I have crushes on Mike Lowell, Tom Brady, and Manny DelCarmen.
69. I love S.E.X. (Stash. Enhancement. eXpeditions)
70. I love my Birkies. I rarely wear any other type of shoe.
71. Ronnie’s is my favorite place to get fried clams.
72. My mother is my best friend. Even though she doesn’t knit.
73. I am deathly afraid of flying.
74. Someday I want to go to Italy, England, and Greece. Even though I am scared to fly. Helloooooo valium.
75. I smoked my first cigarette at 12 with Karen Kallio.
76. Mark Campbell was my first kiss. During a game of truth or dare. I was 12.
77. My first boyfriend, Ben, was also my first.
78. I have been in love, but…
79. …I haven’t met my soulmate yet.
80. But I’ve had fun trying to find him.
81. I have a higher than average IQ.
82. I love to cook and bake.
83. I hated school.
84. I have, on an occasion or two (or ten…), been called a bitch.
85. I am a very impatient driver.
86. I was ambidextrous till the nuns drove it out of me by forcing me to use only my right hand.
87. I am Italian, Irish, French, and English
88. I did NOT vote for George W. Bush.
89. I did vote for Bill Clinton the second time, I wasn’t old enough to vote the first time he was elected.
90. I have 4 tattoos.
91. I love Nick At Nite.
92. I broke my wrist ice skating when I was 7.
93. I used to take swimming, ice skating, gymnastics, and dance classes when I was little.
94. I believe in God and the power of prayer, but I don’t go to church.
95. I was raised Roman Catholic.
96. I don’t like reality TV.
97. I miss Friends, Sex and the City, and Frasier.
98. My first concert was Rick Springfield. Really.
99. My last concert was Korn Rick Springfield. Really.
100. My all-time favorite movie is Grease. I still have the vinyl double-album soundtrack. Someday I will meet John Travolta and have him autograph it.
*101. I have lost re-gained 34 lbs. in the past 5 11 months.
102. I learned to spin.
103. I started crocheting again.

    I read your blog, but I never your 101+. Most of things I read, it was like reading my own list. TOO CRAZY. I was puerto rico when I was pregnant with my 1st and John Travolta was there.. I stalked his limo in hopes of him signing my Pulp Fiction CD or my belly. I was an 89 graduate.. fan of hairbands & highhair. Goodtimes :-) ~Melody
